---------- | EASTER SUNDAY! Jesus appears to his Mother Mary Although this is not stated in Scripture, it is assumed to have been included in the statement that he appeared to so many others. For Scripture supposes that we are capable of understanding: as it is written, ‘Are you also without understanding?’ (Sp Ex 299) The idea for this sculpture was put to me by a retreatant who imagined this encounter between Jesus and his Mother as a ‘reversed Pieta’. Recently Patrick Purnell wrote a poem, The Tip of the Spear which I here quote in part. Open the gates of your heart, My Mother, That I may enter in. Can you hear me little mother, Can you hear me?
